This was not worthwhile, there wasn't much besides characters singing and appearing. The background was usually white, and laziness scene=ICK.

It wasn't really good. Too much white backgrounds, too much image flipping, and not much really happened during the movie.

Sorry to say this, but I sometimes felt tempted to close the window while watching this.

I also felt tempted to close the window, particularly during the laziness part.

An animutation does not consist entirely of images flipping at 3fps.

I swear there are no tweens in this at all.

PLEASE wait until you make something you thik will WOW us before putting it up here. The "misc swf" is made for putting up crappy crap that you made while trying to learn flash. The portal is for the real thing, not this.

Beck is awesome, but this.....meh....it's better than CRICKEY!(imho).
EDIT: It still sucks
EDIT2: It's basically worse in animutation, but I like Beck. *musical preference
EDIT3:ಠ_ಠ
EDIT 4: HIGH 5, MORE DEAD THAN ALIVE!!(rocking the plastic like a man from the Catskills)

Compared to others, it's not that great, but it's better than anything I have so far.

See, the problem with animutations is that a lot of animutation authors don't take the time to learn how to use Flash before they start animutating. That's the main problem in this. Play around with Flash, read some tutorials, or just buy a book like I did, just learn how to use Flash properly before you make animutations so your animutations don't show how little skill you have. (Example: Pong scene near the beginning.) You obviously know how to tween things, so tween things instead of frame-by-frame shit. magicpenguin got away with that, and hell, I did in a few places, but it looks like you can't.

Do a better job of cutting out the images. What I did in my early days of animutating was masking to cut things out instead of breaking them apart. If you have a recent enough version of Flash, you should be able to do that also. It takes longer, but it generally looks better than breaking the image apart and erasing bits of it. Basically, for masking, you should use the outline layer option and make sure the outline surrounds the part of the image you want cut out as closely as possible. Masking sucks ass if you want to have the image do more than flip around though.

The scenes also dragged on too long. Generally, you want to make each scene take up about the same length of time, unless the song is really weird and changes BPM a lot. (See EVIL.swf, in the Miscellaneous SWF Dump, for an example of a song that does that. (Roll Along, from Vib Ribbon))

Make up your own random messages instead of stealing (or referencing, whichever you prefer) them from animutations that have already been referenced 45976356973945 times before. Basically, don't put Hyakugojyuuichi! or Mejezfeld! or Fake Teeth! or whatever into an animutation unless it really fits. Watch TV, read books, whatever, just find something else to reference besides other animutations, or make up your own weird messages. (Not that there's anything wrong with references to other animutations that haven't been referenced entirely too many times already, as long as you don't add too many references.)

Laziness scenes are bad. If you can't come up with ideas for a particular part of the song, skip it, animutate a later part, and fill in the blank part later.

Don't use the Animutation Portal preloader if you want to have any hope of getting things on Newgrounds, which actually isn't as hard as you would think these days. If you can get co-authored on a few flashes, you can get almost anything with a good preloader, a high (20+) framerate, a description over a few lines long, and a filesize above 1 MB to pass. And it gets easier with every flash that passes.

The ending was a bit abrupt, and the jaw-flapping characters had their mouths cut out badly. (Badly is when some of the black bits for inside the mouth still show when the mouth isn't open, or when the cut-out bit is too big or small.)

It was ok, the song was just a bit too long, so next time shorten it.

Think back to the original animutations...Pretty much the same style/skill as this! Animutations started as being purposely amateurish, that was a part of their humour!

Hyakugojyuuichi didn't have a 30 second filler, one thing on screen at a time, or shitty cutting out. *facepalm*

not enough "bells and whistles" to be called an animutation. to be honest... you should have just trashed it.

... but only because of the effort you put into this.

Advice for your next movie:

1. Don't do so many white or flashy backgrounds. They're good in moderation, but too many can make even a veteran animutator cringe. In general, only do flashy backgrounds for short scenes.

2. The music. Don't do mainstream artists. Unless they're, like, TMBG or Weird Al (but then their songs aren't the best for an animutation). Also, I didn't like the fact that they cursed in the song.

3. Many scenes are just characters flipping or singing. Sure, Hyakugojyuuichi did that, but it did that only in moderation. Also, standards have improved. Imagine if DreamWorks released a black-and-white silent cartoon starring animals with "rubber-hose" arms. In the year 2009, too. It would be a smash hit in 1920, but it wouldn't be popular at all now.

Keep trying! I can tell you can do something good; this just doesn't quite cut it.
